Naga/Bhut Jolokia Brown Chilli seed
Officially according to Guinness World Records™ just recently the hottest of all spices!
In extensive field tests, the Chile Pepper Institute (CPI) of New Mexico State University has put the Indian chili variety Bhut Jolokia under the microscope, including DNA analysis and HPLC tests (see our detailed Jolokia report on pepperworld.com). Growing near Las Cruces (New Mexico), there were peaks of 1,001,304 Scoville units (possibly a little less in our latitudes). In addition, this chilli from the northeast of India, for which various other names are also used regionally, has a fruity aroma typical of C. chinense.
So what are the differences between the CPI and Assam seeds? In our experience, the two differ only slightly. But depending on the growing conditions, one or the other may grow better. If there is enough space, it is best to try both in parallel. Furthermore, Assam has shown that in rare cases orange or yellow mutants occur - we therefore cannot guarantee the colour of the fruits.
In 100 days green fruits, in about 120 days red ripened.
Package is sufficient for about 10 plants.
There is even more choice here: Chilli seeds and growing accessories.
Attention: Like all chilli varieties we offer these for decorative purposes only. When you harvest the fruit, please remember: The pods of this variety become extremely hot, even when green. You should always wear protective gloves when using Jolokia pods, clean your hands/dishes well and keep children away.
Before ordering, please read § 15 of our General Terms and Conditions (warning notice for extremely hot chilli products).
Note: This variety is not necessarily suitable for beginners. Since Bhut Jolokia sometimes has a little difficulty germinating due to the variety, here are our cultivation tips at Pepperworld.com
