Nu Mex Chinese New Year is the result of a breeding series of the CPI: Chile Pepper Institute. This is a non-profit organization dedicated to the science and research of the plant genus Capsicum. The Institute is located on the campus of New Mexico State University.
This chili plant grows very compact, rounded and with a height of 20-40 cm is bought by our customers mainly for windowsills or traffic lights as a decorative ornament.  With its spicy fruits it also delights gourmet cuisine.
The berries are tapered and become 3 - 4 cm long, they ripen from a light yellow to orange to a bright red.
Due to their elongated shape and unobtrusive taste, the fruits are particularly suitable for being added to various dishes as a fiery condiment. "
