Tomatillos look approximately like big, green flesh tomatoes, but they have a tighter flesh and also a tighter skin. On top of this, the Tomatillos have exactly like the Physalis a fruit cover that reminds one of a lantern.

Due to the herbal taste of the Tomatillos, these can be easily made into salsas or can be fried in a pan. The tomatillo is also the basis for the Salsa Verde. Since fresh Tomatillos are not that accessible on the market, it is more convenient to buy them in a can. This way they are readily available and can be stored for a longer period of time.
