The foxy alternative for the Alessi Chili Mill

The Italian design-smiths Alessi solves a problem we are most familiar with: Spice - and Peppermills are not a good fit for chilies; they are simply too big for proper grinding. And often one would rather have chili flakes instead of grounds, for example on pizza.

 

 

Alessi meets this challenge with a completely new thought process: A flexible chili-shaped container, made out of semi-transparent silicon gum, obviously red. It is filled with dried chilies and by pressing with the finger, the hot chilies are crushed to the desired consistency. Then you can accurately spice things up through a dosing unit with two differently sized openings – also great for when on the road. Furthermore, the hands remain clean, so you don’t get any surprises later when you touch your eyes etc. The closing flap is made of polished 18/10 stainless steel and complements the chili shape and it forms a nice contrast with the red container. Diameter ca. 3 cm, length 9 cm.
