The Chiltepin is practically the wild-growing original form of the chillies, as it can still be found today in Mexico, Arizona and Texas.
The ripe, almost round fruits are thin-fleshed, only about pea-sized and extremely fiery. The hotness, however, also disappears quickly. The berries dry well. The typical use in their North Mexican home is in salsas, soups and stews.
With the Naranja the fruits ripen orange.
