The Guntur Sannam is commercially grown in India and then shipped dried to the world. The plant is easy to cultivate, ideal also for the chili beginner. The variety is one of the best known Indian chilies, it grows in the districts of Guntur, Warangal and Khammam in Andhra Pradesh in India. The first part of its name is derived from the region where it is grown. The second part "Sannam" means "thin", "long".
The fruits have a deep red colour when harvested, after drying they turn purple. A universal chili, which can be used fresh and dried for everything in the kitchen that needs a nice pungency.
