"Zeisner Gewürz-Ketchup scharf" is a spicy ketchup sauce with mild heat. I think the given heat level of 4 is too high compared to other products I tried from this online shop.
Zeisner also offers a "Curry-Ketchup" and you might wonder what the difference is, especially if you know that "curry" is just a spice mixture and not even a specific one. Well, in terms of the ingredients list, there is no difference. The two products seemingly only differ by the relative amounts of the single ingredients used to give the final product.
The "Curry-Ketchup" is more sour and the acid becomes noticeable earlier while the "Curry-Ketchup"'s acidity becomes dominant only in the aftertaste, no wonder as the former one seems to contain more vinegar (2nd vs 3rd listed ingredient).
On the other hand, the "Curry-Ketchup" tastes less sweet and less spicy, again supported by the nutritional info saying that the "Curry-Ketchup" has less sugars/carbohydrates (31.9g vs 35.5g), spices (0.7% vs 1%), and curry powder most likely too but no percentage was given on the "Gewürz-Ketchup" bottle (0.7% vs ?).
I personally like the "Curry-Ketchup" slightly less.
The sour taste is a tad more apparent and the spices tickle a bit less in terms of hotness. On the upside it has less sugar while still being very sweet.
I would say that both products share the same heat level of 2, maybe 3 at most for the "Gewürz-Ketchup" to show the subtle difference.
Now I don't know why almost all the info is missing on the English page, but here it is:
• Curry Ketchup
• Ingredients: tomato purée (35%), spirit vinegar, sugar, apple purée, modified starch, salt, curry powder (0.7%), spices (0.7%) (contains mustard), thickeners: guar gum, locust bean gum
• 800ml, 940g
• Per 100g: energy 605kJ 142kcal, fat 0.3g, of which saturated 0.1g, carbohydrate 31.9g, of which sugars 30.1g, protein 1.1g, salt 1.7g
