The NuMex Centennial already bears the reason for their breeding in the name. The head of the Chili Pepper Institute Paul Bosland and his team developed the NuMex Centennial for the 100th anniversary of his research institute. This is part of New Mexico State University (USA) and researches the genus Capsicum.

And as colorful as a birthday should be, this plant is also. From the very pretty purple flowers, the fruits ripen from a dark purple to a light yellow to a dark orange and finally to red. Since most of the fruits hang in different stages of maturity on the plant, this is a beautiful decoration for garden and balcony.

Exceptional is besides the full play of colors and the shape of the fruits. These are round and partly teardrop-shaped with a size of 1.5 - 3 cm. The plant grows bushy and should be cultivated in a pot or container for optimal growth.

The chillies are used fresh as a spicy seasoning and dried in the spreader.
