Pesto Calabrese – finally a pesto with some “pepp”!
Earlier known as Pestopic
Basil, pecorino cheese, almonds, olive oil, a little bit of tomato, herbs, salt and pepperoncini united in a tasty pesto – there’s nothing more Italian!
Nice, green, as if you just plucked the basil leaves and mixed them in with the other ingredients. Highly enjoyable, not only with all sorts of pasta and Gnocchi.
Our hot tip #1: Serve the pesto with mozzarella and tomato slices, this way you get a Mediterranean starter in no time – who has fresh basil on the windowsill at any time?!
Hot tip #2: Cut a baguette 1,5cm deep and insert the Crema di Basilico. Wrap bread in aluminum foil and bake it in the oven for 5-10 minutes. Serve hot as a side dish.
Hot tip #3: Use as a decorative spice in a Minestrone or other soups.
Buon appetite!
