From the Andes do they come!
A tasty aromatic variety that needs a lot of light and warmth. It belongs to the species Capsicum pubescens. A mass carrier under the right conditions.
Rocoto is the common name of all chillies belonging to the main group Capsicum pubescens; they are characterized by perenniality and were probably bred in South America more than 8000 years ago.
In the Andes, these chillies grow in the high mountains, where the shrub-like plants reach a height of 2 m and more.
The leaves are light to dark green and - in contrast to the chillies of the other main groups - clearly hairy. The flowers are violet.
This variety was first cultivated in Finland and ripens from green to yellow.
Very important: For a successful harvest think also about the cultivation accessories and the fertilizers.
