A speciality from southern Italy: pickled dandelion
The Contorno del Frate from Sarubbi is an inlaid dandelion. The plant, often underestimated in our latitudes, is pickled in a brine of extra virgin olive oil, vinegar, garlic, fiery chillies and salt. By storing it in the liquid for a longer period of time, the healthy dandelion becomes particularly aromatic.
All ingredients of the Calabrian Contorno del Frate are of high quality. At the same time, the producer Sarubbi avoids the use of flavour enhancers and colourings during the entire production process. This results in an unmistakable taste. This taste, coupled with the traditional production method in southern Italy, is the reason why Contorno del Frate from Sarubbi is considered a real delicacy, not only in Calabria.
The fact that this food is a special one is also reflected in the packaging of the product. The inlaid dandelion is delivered by Sarubbi in a glass jar, which is wrapped in a paper banderole and cap. Under the paper bonnet is a guarantee seal which remains intact until the glass is opened for the first time. The jar itself contains a total of 280 g.
The Contorno del Frate from Sarubbi can be used in salads or as a creative seasoning in soups, stews and sauces.
