What is Piri Piri? Well , hot chillies, at least in Africa. The name simply means "pepper pepper" in Swahili. Presumably from Mozambique this chili variety came to Portugal. Even today, spicy, small chili peppers are referred to as Piri Piri in Spain and Portugal and the products and dishes made from them bear the same name.
